Sea trial – the plan

The plan is to do a sea trial this coming ( last) weekend, out pass the Golden Gate bridge, which is blue water. It will be our first time out of the sea. Even though it will only be about 4 miles out, it is still the ” step”. The are a couple of things that need to taken care of this week before the trip.

Fixing the rudder. The port rudder sticks when going down or up. It is not a critical thing but it does make for better steerage and easier to get underway.

The other thing is to check , repair , replace the power cable going to the outboard.

The plan was to do a sea trial this coming ( last) weekend, which is/was Loving Day weekend, out pass the Golden Gate bridge, where the blue water starts.

It will be our first time out on the sea. Even though it will only be about 4 miles out, it is still the ” step”.
The cable has rusted, it is still functional but I do not want it to break…it will be at the wrong time of course.

Other than fastening a few things down it should be a simple run. The first Day it is about a 3-4 hr sail over to the jump off place at the yacht club next to the Golden Gate Bridge.

There I want to practice some anchoring, have lunch , test deploy the Porta bota. Then just relax for the rest of the evening. On Sunday we will ride the tide out to the ocean where we will sail around for about 2 hrs before heading back home on the flood tide. I am hopeful it is a simple trip. All this should cover about 24 miles of travel.
