Grounding revisited…

I thought I was done with my ground tackle project after adding the 22lb Bruce anchor, replacing the 16lb. However the ground tackle subject resurfaced once I came across a windless that will work on the ZenCat.

I got a deal on the perfect one from the Pelican. Disrupts the deck flow somewhat however I can see it coming in handy “out-there”. If I pull my back or LZ has to raise the anchor.

The windlass will require a bit of work “anchoring” it down on the deck. However that is slight. The real $lice will be having a bow roller custom made. It does not look to be so complex a task but we’ll see. I spoke with the guy here at Svenson’s, who just did the dodger frame. he said no problem doing it. I just need to get him the measurements.

I need the roller, but I will wait until the dodger and the sails get done … Maybe.

It would be good to have it all done, at least one thing on the list … Complete.

  1. Wow Zen, so you’re really going to do this?

Getting an anchor is one thing. Anyone can get an anchor. But installing a windlass usually means things are getting serious.

Is the deck reinforced enough to take the loads where it will be installed?
